Today LI President Hans van Baalen MEP was received by the President of Catalonia, Artur Mas (photo left), at the Palace of the Generalitad in Barcelona.

Discussions are focusing on the Catalan sovereignist aspirations and the subsequent process. LI President informed that LI Executive Committee discussed the issue and agreed to support any decision that would be taken by the Catalan people on their future.

"The democratic model set by London and Edinbrough should be used as a positive example in the discussions between Madrid and Barcelona", said Hans van Baalen

Later today the LI President will be honored with the annual Ramon Trias Fargas memorial award.
