Ukraine: moderate forces must unite - Hoofdinhoud

Hans van Baalen, ALDE spokesman on Ukraine (VVD, Netherlands) calls on the moderate forces from government, Parliament and the Maidan square to come together and broker an acceptable deal.
He said "This deal should lead to democratic elections and a democratic government which will put the interests of Ukraine first.”
Mr van Baalen was speaking ahead of his departure this evening for Kiev as part of a high level European Parliament delegation.
He continues: "It's up to a democratic Ukraine to decide on its external relations, without foreign interference. Only a constructive political deal can break the deadlock and start to deal with the very serious macro-economic challenges Ukraine is facing."
