Minister of Defence of Georgia Tinatin Khidasheli is holding meetings in Brussels. Georgian Defence Minister met with the President of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Hans van Baalen. Tinatin Khidasheli congratulated appointment on a new position and wished him success.

The Head of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe expressed support for Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

As he said the state is on the right path and Georgia is making very valuable contribution to global security via active participation in international peacekeeping operations. Baalen expressed hope that Georgia’s progress will be properly assessed in various international formats. Tinatin Khidasheli highlighted the importance of strengthening the support of the EU Parliament for Georgia.

“ALDE has elected a new President. Earlier we met with the former President Graham Watson. Undoubtedly, it is very important for Georgia to gain more support at the EU Parliament. The fact that the Republican Party is the member of the Liberal-Democratic family fosters us to seize the opportunity and tell them about our worries, share our position, gain support and make the Liberals more active at the EU Parliament as well as in other countries. We also discussed the prospects of political support with regard to NATO and EU”, Tinatin Khidasheli said.

Georgia's ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the head of the Georgian mission to the European Union also attended the meeting with the President of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. Hans van Baalen will visit Georgia to attend the Republican Party congress on December 5.
