Suomen Keskusta focus on employment in their annual Congress - Hoofdinhoud
From 10 to 12 June Finnish ALDE Party member Suomen Keskusta held their annual Congress in Seinäjoki, Finland. On Saturday morning, the Prime Minister of Finland and Keskusta's party leader, Juha Sipilä, officially opened the Congress by addressing the participants.
In his speech, Sipilä stated that increasing employment is the Finnish government's first priority and pointed out that the change in economic policies is already delivering results:
"The Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat published a survey last Sunday, in which six out of ten economists estimate that the recession is over and that the bottom has been reached."
"The reduction in uncertainty will encourage citizens to consume. This in turn will create new job opportunities for unemployed people now. Employment will be followed by economic growth," he added.
According to Sipilä, decreasing unemployment is important in economic terms, but above all from a human perspective: "Long-term unemployment has been increasing for a long time. Accelerating economic growth is definitely the best way to combat the risk of marginalisation," concluded the Prime Minister.
