Hans van Baalen: NATO-EU should deter Putin - Hoofdinhoud

Hans van Baalen MEP (VVD), ALDE Spokesman on Foreign Affairs, Security and Defence, during a plenary debate with Federica Mogherini on EU Foreign Policy on Tuesday 13 December, said:

“A strong European pillar in NATO should deter interventionist Putin-Russia. We need a strong commitment to the NATO capacity goals to invest at least 2% of GDP in defence.

A stronger European involvement in NATO is preferable to a Europe-only solution. Especially, we should keep the US involved in European security. Let us see whether President Donald Trump is different from candidate Trump and reach out to him.”
