Ria Oomen-Ruijten, European Parliament Rapporteur on Turkey, has condemned the recent shocking terrorist attacks in Turkey: "I strongly condemn these attacks and would like to express my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims."

She said that she sincerely hopes that these tragic events will not obstruct the positive development of the region.

In her Reports in the European Parliament, Ria Oomen-Ruijten has always condemned the continuing violence by the PKK and other terrorist groups on Turkish soil. She continues to strongly encourage Turkey, the EU and its Member States to intensify their cooperation in the fight against terrorism: "I also urge the BDP Members of Parliament to distance themselves from these unacceptable violent attacks. The only way forward is through political dialogue and concrete initiatives for reconciliation, and by addressing the Kurdish issue comprehensively with a view to reaching a peaceful solution."
