Iers voorzitterschap, Europees Parlement en Commissie eindigen onderhandelingen over Horizon 2020 (en) - Hoofdinhoud
After many hours of intense talks, the Irish Presidency, the European Parliament's negotiators and the European Commission have concluded negotiations on the Horizon 2020 package. The future EU funding program can now move forward: Good news for European research and innovation.
The Horizon 2020 package will now be submitted to both the Council and to the European Parliament, where it will be brought forward to a plenary session of the European Parliament.
Máire Geoghegan-Quinn i, European Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, stated: "This is a very important step that will help ensure that Horizon 2020 can launch as planned next year."
That is good news for researchers, for universities, for SMEs, and for all other participants in the future EU funding programme.
It is also good news for the many more that stand to benefit from the breakthroughs and innovations the programme will bring, providing solutions for societal challenges and strengthening industrial competitiveness.
"Due credit must go to the European Parliament's negotiators and the Irish Presidency", said Commissioner Geoghegan-Quinn: "Together we have worked hard to reach this point. We now have within reach what the European Parliament, EU Member States and European Commission all envisaged from the start: a research and innovation programme that will make a real difference for jobs and growth in Europe."
