European Court of Auditors publishes opinion on proposed financial rules for European Development Fund - Hoofdinhoud

​The European Court of Auditors today published an opinion on the European Commission’s proposal for a Council Regulation on the financial rules applicable to the 11th European Development Fund (EDF).

The aim of the Commission’s proposal is to align the EDF financial rules with those of the EU budget, taking recent changes into account. The auditors point out that the proposal contains terms and conditions for the use of budget support that are not fully aligned with the rules governing the EU’s general budget. They consider that there are inconsistencies that increase the possibility of confusion or misunderstandings in interpretation and application of the EDF rules.
